Art Lessons

Creative Drawing

Our Basics of Drawing class teaches students fundamental painting techniques and allows them to experiment with and manipulate different types of paint. Students will create paintings from everyday life as well as their limitless imaginations. Four paintings will be created during the 8-week course using acrylic, oil, watercolor, and wax paints.

FACULTY BIO Mrs. Kathryn Wright: Originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, Mrs. Wright is Wesleyan’s elementary and middle school art teacher. She completed her BFA in Art Education at UNC-Greensboro. Her experience includes art education with kindergarten through high school, utilizing mediums such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, and mixed media sculptures. Mrs. Wright has also served as the Arts and Crafts Director and the Basics of Photography Instructor at various local camps.

Wesleyan believes art is a way of expression, an outlet for students, and a form of worship to our Creator. While creating art, students gain a greater appreciation for our Heavenly Father and the works of His hands. Art allows us to see the world differently and experience life more fully. Art spans all academic subjects, including math, science, social studies, and language arts. As students are exposed to various art forms, they grow into well-rounded individuals.
