Elementary School

Transitional Kindergarten – Fourth Grade

As a parent of a young child, you know that their school environment will have a significant impact on their learning. You want them to build a strong academic foundation, but also have the time and space to explore, imagine, get a little messy, and simply be a kid. Wesleyan Christian Academy’s elementary school is a Christ-centered program that equips young learners to thrive academically as they discover their God-given gifts.

How do you choose the right private, Christian school for your family?

Encouraging a lifetime of learning

At WCA, your child will be known, cared for, challenged, and supported. Our average student to teacher ratio is 23:1, with kindergarten and first grade classes intentionally kept smaller. Our qualified, professional teachers are dual-certified and passionate about mentoring each child as they help them form a biblical worldview and a strong identity in Christ. As a parent, you’ll feel a steady and consistent alignment between your family and our school as we reinforce the Christian values you instill at home. Wesleyan welcomes your involvement in your child’s school life. Opportunities include:

  • Moms In Prayer
  • Parent Classroom Volunteers
  • Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)
  • Patrons of the Performing Arts
  • Trojan Club Athletic Boosters
  • Harris Teeter’s “Together in Education” Program
  • Amazon Smile Program
  • Annual Gift Giving (AGG) Volunteers
“I could list so many reasons why we love WCA for our boys. It’s felt like family from day one. The staff here truly love your kids and want to see them succeed. They were able to pick up on some learning issues with one of our children and helped point us in the direction to get all the help he needed to be academically on track. From a spiritual standpoint, we love how they pour Jesus into them each day. We are all about WCA and tell everyone we know who is considering it how it was the best decision for our family.”

Teachers incorporate lively exercises that allow students to actively participate in the learning process such as:

  • Hershey bar fractions
  • Cereal box book reports
  • Roller coaster physics projects
  • Aquaponics greenhouse harvests

At WCA, your student will engage in fun and meaningful lessons while using the tools of their generation to develop critical thinking skills, creative problem solving, and collaborative communication.

Spiritual Formation

Each month, elementary school students work on building specific Christian character traits that are reinforced through daily lessons, weekly Chapels, and classroom activities. Our teachers weave God’s word into every subject area, allowing students to see how Scripture applies to their lives. In Chapel, students get to worship together, hear inspiring messages, and experience the benefits of Wesleyan’s distinctive Christian community.

Meet a Teacher

Degree: BS in Elementary Education
Teaching Experience: 13 years

“As an alumnus of WCA, I had so many wonderful teachers that invested in my life and truly shaped who I am today. Now being in the role of a third-grade teacher has made me want to train up the next generation for great things to come. I love being able to teach my students about the love of Jesus, and to grow little minds for the Kingdom is one of the greatest blessings in the world – something I will never take for granted. This close-knit community and school family I get to be a part of every day is my home away from home.”
