How do you choose the right Christian Elementary School for your child?

“I could list so many reasons why we love WCA for our boys. It’s felt like family from day one. The staff here truly love your kids and want to see them succeed. They were able to pick up on some learning issues with one of our children and helped point us in the direction to get all the help he needed to be academically on track. From a spiritual standpoint, we love how they pour Jesus into them each day. We are all about WCA and tell everyone we know who is considering it how it was the best decision for our family.”

ACADEMIC FOUNDATION

Wesleyan’s elementary school provides a strong academic foundation by teaching core subjects like creative writing, language arts, math, science, and social studies from a biblically-based worldview. Through developmental placement our teachers accelerate learning while offering support in reading and math, ensuring students are challenged, supported, and successful academically and spiritually.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

At Wesleyan Christian Academy, our spiritual development program ensures that every child knows they are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Created with unique gifts and a divine purpose, Wesleyan students are taught to love God passionately. We instill a deep familiarity with scripture, so they can turn to it for encouragement and guidance throughout their lives.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Our elementary school calendar is filled with events that foster community, fellowship, and relationships between students, parents, and teachers. We invest in our families and encourage them to invest in us. Through special programs like Grandparents’ Honor Day, Veterans’ Day, Arts Impact Day, the Elementary Musical, and many more we build friendships that last throughout your child’s time at Wesleyan and beyond.

NURTURING ENVIRONMENT

Students receive individualized attention daily and benefit from innovative teaching methods. Our teachers are committed to understanding what makes your child special, fostering both academic growth and personal development in a supportive, Christ-centered atmosphere.

KINDERGARTEN DEVELOPMENT

Elementary School Resources

At Wesleyan Christian Academy, we understand that each student is uniquely created by God, and we provide tailored academic support to ensure all learners succeed. While we teach at an accelerated pace, our approach includes various support options.

Our Small Group Intervention helps students in the classroom master specific skills through specialized instruction. The Resource Program offers additional math and reading support in smaller settings, with progress monitoring. The Enrichment Center provides core instruction for students who benefit from accommodations, while still allowing participation in regular school activities. Additionally, Tutoring services are available from staff, offering personalized guidance in thirty-minute or one-hour sessions. These programs ensure that every student receives the support needed to thrive academically.

Wesleyan Christian Academy provides an After-School Program for families requiring extended care beyond the regular school day. This program is designed to offer a safe and engaging environment for students and is also available during certain all-day holidays and teacher workdays. For details about the program’s schedule, fees, and availability, please visit our After-School page.

Our curriculum not only meets but surpasses all North Carolina State Standards and is vertically aligned across TK-12th grade to ensure cohesive learning progression. We emphasize both the breadth of content and the depth of your child’s understanding.

In our elementary program, core subjects include Bible, Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Writing.

At Wesleyan Christian Academy, our elementary school enriches student learning through a variety of special events that extend beyond the classroom. These experiences celebrate significant moments and individuals while fostering creativity, personal growth, and community engagement. Key events include Grandparents’ Honor Day, Veterans’ Honor Day, the Father-Daughter Dance, Science Night, the Missions Fair, Arts Impact Day, the Elementary Musical, and Games Day.

Each event provides students with opportunities to apply their learning in real-world contexts, build lasting relationships, and develop important character traits. Whether through honoring loved ones, showcasing talents, or participating in community service, these activities offer valuable life lessons and encourage students to grow into well-rounded individuals. These experiences complement the academic curriculum, helping students connect with the broader community in meaningful and memorable ways.

At Wesleyan Christian Academy, the elementary years are a crucial time for children to develop their academic self-concept, confidence, and life skills. Our elementary school guidance counselor’s goal is to support both students and their families throughout this important journey. We work closely with students as they begin to form attitudes toward school, self, and others, while also helping them build character values and essential decision-making skills.

By offering early identification and intervention for academic and social needs, our guidance counselor aims to remove any barriers to learning and promote your child(ren)’s overall success. The skills and values students develop during these formative years lay the foundation for their future achievements and we are committed to partnering with families to help nurture each child into the person God has created them to be.

At Wesleyan Christian Academy, we believe that parent involvement is essential to the success of every student. The partnership between school and family creates a supportive environment that enhances each child’s educational experience. We strive to serve as an extension of your home, and we encourage parents to engage in activities that strengthen this bond. Opportunities for involvement include Moms In Prayer, classroom volunteering, the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), Patrons of the Performing Arts, the Trojan Boost Club, and Annual Gift Giving. These activities not only support your child’s learning but also help build a strong sense of community. By working together, we can create an enriching environment that allows students to thrive academically, spiritually, and personally. At Wesleyan, we value the role parents play and invite you to partner with us in supporting your child’s journey.

At Wesleyan Christian Academy, your child’s well-being and safety are our highest priorities. We understand the immense trust you place in us each day, and we are dedicated to creating a secure environment where your child can focus on learning and enjoying their school experience. Our thorough safety protocols ensure that every precaution is taken to protect both the physical and emotional security of our students throughout the day. These measures allow your child to thrive in a safe and supportive atmosphere, giving you peace of mind. For more information on the specific safety procedures we have in place, please visit our School Safety page.

At Wesleyan Christian Academy, offering a diverse range of academic curricular specials is vital in helping students explore and develop their God-given talents. Through Art, students engage in creativity by using a variety of mediums, such as paint, chalk, and clay, fostering artistic expression from an early age. In Music, students are introduced to voice and instrumental instruction, with fourth graders eagerly learning the ukulele. Our Physical Education (PE) program enhances gross motor skills and teaches sports fundamentals, with the added benefit of swim instruction for two quarters. Media and Technology sessions allow students to explore literature, learn genres, and gain proficiency in Google Suite through Chromebook use. Finally, STEM classes immerse students in a lab-like environment, engaging with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math to deepen their understanding and curiosity. These specials provide a well-rounded education, encouraging students to discover and nurture their unique gifts and talents.

Wesleyan Christian Academy’s Spiritual Life program is the cornerstone of everything we do, shaping the hearts and minds of our students as they grow in their faith. Each year, we emphasize an Annual Theme that helps guide spiritual growth and understanding. This year’s theme, Heroes of the Faith, focuses on studying the lives of biblical figures who demonstrated unwavering faith in God, inspiring our students to live out their own faith with boldness and conviction. As part of this journey, students engage in an in-depth study of the book of Hebrews, which highlights the significance of faith and perseverance. Through chapel services, Bible classes, and other spiritual activities, Wesleyan’s Spiritual Life program encourages students to not only grow academically but also to develop a deep, personal relationship with God, making their faith the foundation of their lives both inside and outside the classroom.

At Wesleyan Christian Academy, our technology philosophy emphasizes that instructional technology should enhance, not replace, the interpersonal relationships between teachers and students. We believe that meaningful learning happens through human connection, and technology serves as a valuable tool to support, not overshadow, traditional teaching methods.

Our elementary students benefit from access to a variety of technology, including classroom tools, dedicated technology classes, and STEM activities. However, we intentionally limit the use of technology during the school day, focusing on hands-on learning experiences and proven teaching techniques. This balance allows students to engage with modern tools while still developing critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills in a relational, interactive environment. Our goal is to ensure that technology enriches the learning process without detracting from the personal, human elements that make education at Wesleyan unique and impactful.
