High School Curriculum

College Preparation

Wesleyan Christian Academy’s high school is an institution whose goal is to provide excellent academic instruction in a distinctively Christian setting. The curriculum and co-curricular programs reflect the school’s mission of developing each student spiritually, physically, academically, emotionally, and socially. Wesleyan faculty and staff provide a caring, supportive environment to nurture students in a safe refuge where they can explore and develop their God-given talents and abilities, whether academic, artistic, or athletic.

AP, Honors, and Dual Enrollment

This year, Wesleyan is excited to offer more than 29 honors courses, 16 advanced-placement (AP) classes, and more than 40 dual-enrollment opportunities to qualifying students. Our dual-enrollment courses are offered in collaboration with Guilford Technical Community College.  For more detailed information about every college-preparatory course we offer, please click the Course Descriptions link on this page.

Academic Policies

Students must secure written teacher recommendations before enrolling in any AP (Advanced Placement) or Honors course. If a teacher does not recommend a student for a course that a student desires to take, the student’s parent may first make a request to the appeals committee via the student’s course registration sheet to permit the student to enroll without the teacher’s recommendation. If the principal approves enrollment, a letter will be placed in the student’s permanent record indicating that placement did not have a teacher recommendation. The student must complete the course for the entire school year. If a student elects to drop the course, the policy for “dropping classes” will apply.

With parent permission, a student may make needed schedule changes during the first ten days of school. After that, the only changes that will be approved will be those in which a student is experiencing academic difficulty and needs to move to a less rigorous level of that particular subject area (for example, a move from Honors Algebra II to College Prep Algebra II).

Contact the Director of College Counseling to obtain an official Wesleyan Christian Academy transcript. The official transcript will include SAT, ACT, and AP scores as a standard Wesleyan policy. Student financial accounts must be up-to-date for transcripts to be released.
