Wesleyan Parent Shares Challenging Message with Students

Throughout the school year, Wesleyan’s middle and high school students have the privilege of hearing many dynamic speakers share in the weekly chapels.

The students were once again afforded this opportunity as WCA parent, Natasha Robinson recently delivered a challenging message on leadership.  Mrs. Robinson is a speaker, author, and founder of the faith-based nonprofit, Leadership LINKS, Inc. She is a graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and the U.S. Naval Academy and has served as an officer in the Marine Corp.

Mrs. Robinson’s life-changing message to these young students revealed the importance of first being a follower before becoming a leader.  She reminded them that a true leader must surrender and submit his or her life fully to God. She compared this type of leadership to the life of Abraham that is described in the Old Testament.  Because he gave up everything to follow God, his name was made great and is still known globally to this day. Leadership also demands service to others. Mrs. Robinson pointed out to the students that Jesus is our primary example of a leader who came to serve others.

As early as 6th grade, Mrs. Robinson began to realize how her own decisions and choices would affect her future.  She made a decision then to study hard, become an avid reader, and work diligently to develop her God-given gifts.  She also recognized the importance of volunteering and serving others. Natasha Robinson and her team at Leadership LINKS are sharing this same leadership philosophy with the next generation.  The acronym LINKS stands for:

  • Love – Love others. God is love, and He called us to love others as we love ourselves.
  • Inspiration – Encourage people to operate in God’s purpose and influence others to do the same.
  • Network – Unify like-minded leaders to maximize impact on the world.
  • Knowledge – Intentionally teach and promote growth, as people cannot do what they do not know.
  • Service – Use our gifts, talents and passions to give to others.

Through their summer leadership program for rising 6th – 10th grade girls and the mentoring program for both boys and girls in 7th and 8th grade, Leadership LINKS exposes students to the teaching and guidance of influential business men and women, educators, military personnel and so many more!

Wesleyan greatly appreciates Mrs. Robinson sharing such a life-changing message with our students.  If you would like to listen to her message that was shared with the high school students, please click here.If you are interested in learning more about Leadership LINKS and their programs, go to www.leadershiplinksinc.org.
