WCA First Grader Celebrates Birthday by Giving to Others
First grader, Maggie Cox, recently celebrated her seventh birthday.
Instead of receiving the gifts a seven-year-old girl normally is given, Maggie asked her classmates and other friends to give a book to the students at Fairview Elementary and other children’s outreach programs in High Point. In an interview with The High Point Enterprise, Maggie said that she chose to do this “because she wanted to help people.” The children greatly appreciated Maggie’s efforts. Seven-year-old Fairview student, Annas Khan remarked as she picked out the book, 5 Minute Snuggle Stories, “this is the best gift I’ve ever received!”
Maggie definitely has a heart for giving to others. Not only did she give these books to children who would not normally have access to them, last year she donated some of her hair to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program. This organization makes wigs for children who have lost their hair because of cancer, burns or other health concerns. She learned about the program while attending Vacation Bible School at her church and knew she wanted to share her own hair for someone who needed it.
