WCA Board Chairman To Offer Opening Prayer for U.S. House of Representatives

Tomorrow will be a day to remember for our Wesleyan School Board Chairman Pastor John Vernon — as well as our Wesleyan family. At noon tomorrow, Wednesday, July 18, Pastor Vernon will offer the opening prayer in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., as the Guest Chaplain.

Anyone who knows Pastor Vernon is most likely not surprised by this honor as he has lived a life of faith and servant leadership. In addition to his role at Wesleyan, Pastor Vernon is the Assistant District Superintendent of the N.C. East District of the Wesleyan Church and a High Point Police and Fire Chaplain. Pastor Vernon was invited to offer the opening prayer by U.S. Congressman Ted Budd.

As you can imagine, this is a tremendous honor, and we are grateful to our Lord for giving Pastor Vernon this distinction and opportunity to bring the Word of God to our Representatives. According to an interview in today’s High Point Enterprise, Pastor Vernon explained, “For most pastors, this is probably a once-in-a-lifetime thing … so I consider it a great honor.”

Please join us as we pray for Pastor Vernon tomorrow as he delivers the opening prayer and congratulate him on the extraordinary honor.

To God be the Glory!
