WCA Announces New Transportation Service

WESLEYAN WILL OFFER A NEW MORNING TRANSPORTATION SERVICE FROM GREENSBORO BEGINNING IN 2019-2020 VIA ITS NEW FLEET OF BUSES.

One of the more interesting trends that Wesleyan learned through work with our school consultant last year was that more than 50% of our families are traveling from outside of High Point to Wesleyan each day. That number was 30% just five years ago. Knowing the time and financial commitment that travel entails, we are humbled and blessed that so many of you are willing to drive and carpool to attend Wesleyan.

That said, this data rekindled a conversation among our leadership about the feasibility of offering bus serviceto families in our highest density areas outside of High Point. After identifying those areas (Greensboro and NW Guilford County), we surveyed more than 100 current and new families to determine their interest in a morning bus service, picking up from two locations:

  • Harris Teeter at New Garden Road and Horsepen Creek Road in Greensboro
  • Pleasant Ridge Road and Hwy 68N near Oak Ridge

We received a very positive response from these surveys, making this an easy decision assuming we have the right personnel and structure in place. Consequently, beginning in the fall of 2019, we are happy to announce that Wesleyan will begin offering morning transportation service from the above locations to the school via our new fleet of incredible buses. Later this spring, we hope to launch a trial run of this bus service to help us prepare for fall.

While there are other pick-up locations to consider, those needs and locations will be assessed during the 2019-2020 school year as we give this program a little more time to develop.

Between God’s blessing via our new fleet of Wesleyan buses and a definitive need from our families in these concentrated areas, we are excited that God has opened a door to enable us to offer this service. Greensboro and Oak Ridge area families can expect to receive communication from Wesleyan in the coming weeks about how they might be able to participate in a trial run of this service at a reduced rate, beginning Monday, April 29, 2019.

We are sincerely grateful for the privilege of serving your family and we look forward to exploring new ways to strengthen our partnership with you and your children!
