Music Teacher Receives Prestigious Award
Each year, the High Point Arts Council honors those who have made significant contributions to the arts in our city. On June 20, the 34th annual Arts Awards event was held at the Centennial Station Arts Center. Wesleyan’s elementary music teacher, Mrs. Teresa Flack, was presented the Teacher of the Arts award for 2017-18. The council’s Executive Director, Ms. Debbie Lumpkins, said Mrs. Flack’s “students love to perform, and they love to share their gifts with others….She had a positive impact on the lives of young people and nurtured in them a love for the arts! ”
This is no surprise to us that Mrs. Flack received this well-deserved honor. The countless concerts and musicals that she has led over the past 23 years have showcased our students’ tremendous talent, and she also instilled in them the school’s vision of not only knowing the truth but living it. Whether practicing or performing, her students quickly understood that they should give their absolute best in everything they do, not for man’s adoration, but because it pleases our Lord.
At the end of this past school year, Mrs. Flack taught her final class at Wesleyan and officially kicked-off her retirement. We deeply appreciate all she has done for her students and the academy. Mrs. Flack not only has been a valuable asset to the school but a beautiful example of a humble and gracious servant of Jesus Christ. Through the years, she has genuinely made lasting impressions on hundreds of Wesleyan students. Thank you, Mrs. Flack, for the difference you have made in our school, your students’ lives, and our community!
